The Joliet Public Library is looking for an innovative Youth Services Librarian to provide positive customer service, exciting programming, and thoughtful collection development at the recently renovated Ottawa Street location. Joliet is an economically and ethnically diverse community of 150,000 residents encompassing four school districts, a mix of urban and suburban environments, and a large Spanish-speaking population. The downtown building is in the heart of the City and it is a hub for children and teens looking for activities, enrichment, and access to resources. All Youth Services staff members participate in outreach events like family reading nights and local neighborhood festivals. The Department runs activities for kids from birth through high school, and it needs someone who loves working with grade school students. Qualifications:

MLIS from an ALA-accredited program

Spanish-speaking ability is highly preferred

Experience with families and children of all ages

 

Benefits:

This is an IMRF position at 37.5 hours a week, with 25 days of vacation and paid holidays. Health, dental, and life insurance are also part of the benefits package. A mix of daytime, evenings, and weekends are required. The starting salary is $52,650.00 a year.
