Job Title: Upper School Librarian

Reports to: Upper School Head

Length of Contract: 180 Days

Summary: The Upper School Librarian serves as an instructional partner and information specialist. The Librarian is responsible for the operation of the Research and Collaboration Center (RCC), empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, ethical users of information, and collaborates with classroom teachers to design and implement units of instruction

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides lessons in the use of library and information seeking literacy skills, understanding and respect for intellectual property, and demonstrating digital
Β  Β citizenship.
- Instructs students in the use of library resources and research techniques.
- Conducts activities to provide an integrated curriculum and technology-rich literacy experiences for all students.
- Involves students in the library through lessons, activities, clubs, and special reading incentives.
- Promotes instructional technology to improve learning with a focus on the appropriate and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence.
- Fosters a creative, flexible environment so that the RCC is an essential part of the learning community.
- Collaborates with teachers in the creation of lessons and materials that support Fort Worth Christian School standards as a partner in the instructional process.
- Provides and plans professional development as needed.
- Provides teachers with appropriate materials for units of study.
- Encourages a love of reading and lifelong learning as a foundational skill for learning, personal growth, and enjoyment.
- Provides recreational and instructional materials in print and digital format.
- Oversees the selection, circulation, and sharing of resources housed in the RCC.
- Fosters a welcoming environment of creativity, learning, and innovation.
- Maintains a continued awareness of current research and trends in library practices and technology
- Plans and oversees the reservation and use of the RCC.
- Demonstrates an understanding of fiscal responsibility and manages the Upper School library budget.
- Supervise study hall groups as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required. MLS Preferred.
