Reports to: Branch Manager or Supervisor

Supervises: Not a Supervisory Position

Overview: Provides friendly, high quality customer service to all Calvert Library customers. Duties include helping customers borrow materials, providing technical assistance with public computers, online library resources and other aspects of using the physical and virtual library.

Schedule: Shifts are generally 3-8 hours and may include days, evenings and Saturdays. The ability to work at any location is required.   Availability with short notice is preferred. This position requires a minimum of 8-12 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities/Duties:

A.  Essential Job Functions (All listed responsibilities/duties are considered essential to the position.)

  • Follows established  policies, quality standards, and rules
  • Substitutes in other branches/departments as directed
  • Performs and maintains circulation procedures             
  • Performs and maintainsInter-Library Loan procedures
  • Performs reader's advisory services
  • Supports and implements library goals
  • Maintains orderliness of collection and neatness of public and work areas
  • Locates materials for customers
  • Searches online data bases
  • Demonstrates initiative in assisting customers
  • Collects statistics
  • Instructs customers in use of materials and equipment
  • Operates equipment used in connection with job duties
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer and personnel information
  • Answers directional questions for customers
  • Collects cash and accounts for it accurately
  • Promotes library services and activities
  • Assists supervisor as assigned

B.  Special Duties (Employees may or may not be asked to perform any of these duties.)

  • Attends classes and webinar trainings when assigned
  • Represents the library at outside events
  • Performs other duties as related
