Richland Library is seeking to hire a Full-Time Senior Accountant at our Main location.

Sample Duties:

  • Maintains financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Maintains accurate and complete records, including ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and information related to supplies and inventory
  • Prepares census reports for the finance office and assists with reports for other departments, as requested
  • Oversee and direct the process of organizing analytical date relate to the organization revenue management
  • Assists the accounting department in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, developing budgets, preparing taxes, and assisting with audits and resolving discrepancies
  • Prepares journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes
  • Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
  • Performs with monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responds in responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits
  • Maintain inventory records of the Library’s fixed assets; reconciles with fund ledger and prepares and records fixed asset and depreciation reconciliation for annual audit
  • Meets processing and reporting deadlines
  • Reconciles the Friends and Foundation transactions and invoices the component unit for any funds due to the Library
  • Administers the grants project ledger including but not limited to, set up per all regulations and guidelines, budget entry, and reconciliations
  • Assists with payroll activities including but not limited to, initiating manual adjustments to employee deductions per liability reconciliations and reconciling assigned payroll liabilities
  • Provide guidance to finance team and assist with updating finance resources to ensure operation of all finance matters
  • Stays informed regarding budget processing and assists staff with budget issues, as requested
  • Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Follows organizational, County, and public health and safety guidelines and protocols and performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; supplemented by five (5) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five (5) years of progressively responsible public sector accounting experience.

Location, Salary & Hours:

Where: Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Salary: $2,137.50 bi-weekly plus excellent benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week to include occasional evenings and/or weekends: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Job Role & Level: P3; Pay Grade & Salary Band: 7; FLSA Status: Exempt
