Are you passionate about inspiring young readers and fostering a love of learning? Our busy downtown Main Library is seeking a dynamic and creative Children’s Librarian to provide engaging and professional library services to children and their families. In this role, you will assist with reader’s advisory, reference services, and develop programs that spark curiosity and imagination. From leading storytimes and coordinating activities to conducting outreach and library tours, you’ll play a vital role in connecting children with the joy of reading and discovery. While this role primarily focuses on working with children, the selected candidate will also receive cross-training to assist in the Teens Department as needed.



This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position and will be required to work a mix of day, evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree; AND two (2) years of library operations experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
    • Valid Driver's License
    • State of Indiana Public Librarian Certification within three (3) years

    • Candidate must have completed nine credit hours of specific library science courses or commit to completing them within three years of start date in this position. Completion of this coursework will allow the person obtaining this position to achieve the required Librarian Certification Level 5 within three years of start date in this position. After requirements are met, must earn 50 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.

    • Starting pay is $20.11 per hour and up based on experience
