Are you passionate about connecting with teens and creating a welcoming space where they can learn, explore, and grow? Our bustling Teens Department at the downtown Main Library is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teen Librarian to provide engaging library services tailored to young adults. In this role, you’ll offer reader’s advisory, reference assistance, and develop dynamic programs that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a love of reading. From leading teen-focused events and activities to outreach and community engagement, you'll help shape a library experience that supports and empowers young people. While this role primarily focuses on working with teens, the selected candidate will also receive cross-training to assist in the Children's Department as needed.



This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position and will be required to work a mix of day, evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree; AND two (2) years of library operations experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
    • Valid Driver's License
    • State of Indiana Public Librarian Certification within three (3) years

    • Candidate must have completed nine credit hours of specific library science courses or commit to completing them within three years of start date in this position. Completion of this coursework will allow the person obtaining this position to achieve the required Librarian Certification Level 5 within three years of start date in this position. After requirements are met, must earn 50 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.

    • Starting pay is $20.11 per hour and up based on experience
