    Job Summary: Manages the library and assists students and staff in the effective use of library resources, ensuring that the library program meets the mission, goals and objectives of the District.

    New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 8: $24.84 - $27.81 DOE 
    Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
    Work Hours: 7.5 hours per day
    Work Year: 10 months
    Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

    Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
    1. Minimum of 48 college credits. 
    2. Completion of, or proof of enrollment upon job offer in, a 3-credit college-level Children’s Literature course focused on selecting, interpreting, and using quality literature with children (PreK–8); if not already completed, a progress report must be submitted within 4 months of hire. 
    3. At least 1 year of experience in a public, academic, or school library, including use of online catalogs and classification systems; 1 year of classroom management may be substituted. 
    4. General clerical skills, including a minimum typing speed of 35 wpm. 
    5. Basic computer knowledge, including database management and effective use of online resources. 
    6. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage shifting priorities, frequent interruptions, and stressful situations. 
    7. Comfortable working with elementary-aged children and understanding of their developmental stages. 
    8. Ability to maintain a welcoming, child-friendly library environment. 
    9. Ability to promote literature and help students find age-appropriate, engaging books. 
    10. Ability to assist students with computer searches and traditional reference resources. 
    11. Ability to coordinate volunteers and elementary student helpers. 
    12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
