Position Summary

Under direction: interact with students in a courteous and professional manner, assisting them with location of resources, answering research and technical questions. Maintains records of student library accounts, usage statistics and provides monthly reports to the director. Responsible for maintaining department’s calendar, Opelika campus library displays, and ordering and inventorying supplies. Supervise student workers, provide monthly reports and update activities on the social media platforms. 

Salary:  Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule E3: (Salary range: $39,759 – $62,710).    

Benefits:  Full time employees are entitled to the College’s benefit package to include:   PEEHIP, retirement, leave (annual, sick, and personal), etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain library student accounts and provide reports. 
  • Knowledge of a library circulation management system.
  • Responsible for processing and shelving of library materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating loanable laptops.
  • Provide search and location of materials information to students, college personnel, or visitors in a manner evidencing cordiality.
  • Supervise student workers. 
  • Update library’s activities on social media and library pages. 
  • Issue identification cards for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform general clerical duties requiring the exercise of tact, judgment, and discretion.
  • Receive, process, open, sort, and distribute office mail and supplies. 
  • Operate a computer, calculator, and other office machinery. 
  • Assist in maintaining central files according to standard rules of records management.
  • Perform other duties as requested by appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years of working experience in a library environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Banner Operation Systems preferred.
