Position Summary: Media Assistant will help manage the library’s media resources, assist teachers and students with research, and promote literacy through various activities and resources.
Reports To: Principal
Knowledge, Skills & Implementation
Assist teachers in finding and using library resources to support their instruction
Teach students and staff how to use the library and its resources effectively
Provide instruction on using technology and digital resources
Encourage reading and promote literacy through activities like book talks, displays, and reading programs
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.
Instructional Leadership
Maintain and organize the library’s collection of books, digital resources, and other media
Process new media, including cataloging and classifying materials
Ensure materials are accessible and relevant to the school’s curriculum and student needs
Read aloud to students and monitor students during academic work time
Be mindful of library budget and equipment needs
Perform other tasks as assigned by the principal and other administrative staff as designated by the superintendent
Qualifications & Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Library experience preferred
