The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2025-26 school year:

 

Goshen Intermediate School

Media Resource Specialist - School Librarian

  

POSITION PURPOSE:  The secondary school librarian supports the hosting of classes in the library while also assisting in the management of the school library resources. The school librarian also ensures that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, instills a love of learning and exploration, provides equitable access to information, collaborates, and makes connections to the real world and curriculum.

                                       

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Assists in managing and developing the collection
  • Assists in creating and encouraging a culture of reading
  • Collaborates with the school community to support lessons in both the school library and classrooms
  • Collects, organizes, and promotes resources (both print and digital) to the school community
  • Supports students as they meet independent reading and academic goals
  • Promotes and builds awareness of information literacy standards (effectively accessing and using appropriate resources) and digital citizenship

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to follow directions and established procedures
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to formats within the educational procedure of community-based instruction and inclusive teaching models
  • Ability to perform job duties without supervision
  • Ability to establish rapport with staff and children; ability to maintain discipline; possess tact; courtesy; and good judgment

 

WORK CALENDAR:  School year; 184 days; 30-40 hours per week daily hours

 

WAGES AND BENEFITS:  Wages and benefits are according to Board approved rates and Classified Handbook (wage scales #21-7 - 21-7.2)
