Library Assistant
The Library Assistant oversees the use of print and non-print resources by students and staff. In conjunction with the proper use of library resources, the Library Assistant is expected to provide superior customer service and work closely and collaboratively with the Librarian.
Responsibilities:
- Assists students in the use of print and non-print library resources.
- Provides instruction and support to individual and groups of students in information retrieval techniques (online searching and locating resources).
- Provides input on short and long-range plans for keeping the collection current.
- Uses library software system to catalog and circulate materials, to inventory the collection and to print reports as needed.
- Monitors lost and overdue items and updates their status regularly.
- Receives and inspects materials upon delivery.
- Processes new materials, inspects, mends, and shelves materials.
- Regularly maintains shelf order of materials.
- Plans and organizes displays in the Library and Resources Center.
- Organizes and participates in Library programs.
- Provides orientation to new students on Library resources, services, and programs
- Conducts library workshops virtually and in-person.
- Assists students in obtaining Local public library cards and accessing their databases
- Uses Schoology (school’s learning platform) to add students, update and share information and resources.
- Monitors students in the Library and Resources Center
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree equivalent and 1 year of related experience or the appropriate combination of education and experience
- Bilingual proficiency preferred (Spanish or etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications, Outlook, and Google Suites
- Experience working or volunteering in a library environment preferred
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to effectively file and organize documents
- Excellent interpersonal skills

Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:30 am-2:30 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 2:30 pm- 8:30 pm
Pay ranges from $23.20 to $28.57 per hour
