The Librarian manages and expands a library's collection of books and materials, providing comprehensive research and reference assistance through strategic acquisitions. Responsibilities include cataloging, creating bibliographies and metadata, and ensuring easy access to materials. The Librarian oversees communication updates on new acquisitions and library services, maintains the library's technology infrastructure, and supports interlibrary loans and information center web page content development.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property.
Possesses experience with finding and searching scientific and technical information resources. Possesses experienced in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Reference Librarians and Interlibrary Loan Librarians should have expertise in citation searching one or more major on-line commercial vendors (Dialog, STN, Questel, Lexis/Nexis) and expertise in finding information on the Internet.
Experience in searching OCLC for location holdings information at source libraries.
Expertise in online cataloging systems, (e.g. Horizon, the current online catalog at PTO), current MARC/Conser standards and LC classification system.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills required.
Advanced knowledge of library operations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads, supervises, and mentors library staff to achieve high performance standards, providing training and guidance as needed.
Oversees day-to-day library operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and maintaining the library's technology infrastructure.
Develops and maintains the library's collection, including books and electronic materials, conducting regular assessments and making acquisition recommendations.
Provides research, reference assistance, and citation verification using online search techniques and automated tools.
Performs cataloging and creates metadata for library materials, ensuring easy access and organization.
Manages interlibrary loan requests and contributes to the library's online content, ensuring information is current and accessible.
Assists with planning, organizing, and coordinating activities to enhance user access to library resources, and develop user training and documentation.
Plans and promotes library programs and events to boost community engagement and visibility.
Prepares and manages the library’s budget, resource allocation, and cost control.
Follows security guidelines for library collections and equipment maintenance.
Compiles library statistics and analyze service usage to inform collection development decisions.
Maintains efficient communication by distributing updates on new acquisitions, library activities, and services.
Works independently towards project objectives, keeping supervisors informed on progress and challenges.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of library/information center experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
