Required Degree: 

Required Degree:MLS from an ALA-accredited institution

OR

If the applicant does not have an MLS, a master’s degree in information systems management, computer science, information technology, or electrical and computer engineering, and a commitment to complete an MLS degree a minimum of 44 months from the date of hire.

OR

If the applicant does not have an MLS, a minimum of two years of direct law library work successfully administering SirsiDynix Workflows and other law library-specific technology and a commitment to complete an MLS degree a minimum of 44 months from the date of hire.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

A successful applicant must have experience working with and learning new technology, excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, a deep commitment to providing excellent service, and a proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team. Candidates should also have knowledge of current practices and trends in academic or research environments. Working knowledge of key concepts in both of the following areas and significant experience in one or both areas: (1) Library Systems standards, practices and standards, MARC, RDA, authority control; (2) Desktop and Network support (both windows and Apple OS); Server Support (Linux and Windows), and Printers, including provisioning, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and asset controlling. 

Duties/Expectations: 

While the exact contours of the position will depend on the expertise, experience, and aptitude of the successful candidate, areas of responsibility will include the following: supporting the Law Library Integrated Library system, subsystems, hardware, and software, developing and maintaining the Law Library webpage, collaborating with faculty on their research by providing technology support through database creation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and direct software and hardware support, providing expertise in emerging technologies, teaching technology-related skills to law students and faculty, managing the Law Library’s Digital Repository, and supporting other law and technology efforts that support the mission of the Law School and Law Library. As a law library faculty member, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute in the areas of citizenship, mentoring, and creative works.

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration.
