Do you love to connect with community members? Would you like to help ensure that tweens, teens, and their families have a welcoming environment with exciting events to attend? The Black Road location of the Joliet Public Library is in need of a full-time librarian who will connect teens to their next great read, provide interesting programs, and develop a dedicated hub for students. Black Road is a busy, newly renovated space with a Teen Room and collection adjacent to the Youth Services Department. Youth Services runs activities for kids from birth through high school. The position requires a person who loves working with patrons of all ages, but who desires a special focus on upper elementary and high school students. The role offers a wide range of responsibilities, meaning every day is open to possibilities.
Responsibilities
Programming for tweens and teens, as well as assisting with events for all ages
Collection development of the teen and young adult collections
Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service to patrons young and old
Coordinating the Teen Volunteer Corps at the Black Road building
Representing JPL at community events, in partnership with the Teen Outreach Librarian
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about trends in literature and popular culture, comfortable working collaboratively with other team members, passionate about providing excellent customer service, and interested in connecting with teens at their level.

Qualifications
MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program. Candidates in school will be considered.
Experience working with youth, teens, and families in a public setting.
Demonstrated passion for public service.
Knowledge of teen literature, programs and resources.
Technology skills and the ability to assist patrons with their information needs.
Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
Benefits
This is an Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) eligible position at 37.5 hours a week, with 25 days of vacation and paid holidays. Health, dental, and life insurance are also part of the benefits package. A mix of daytime, evenings, and weekends are required.
