Job Summary
Crestview Public Library seeks a dedicated and creative Youth Services Librarian to develop and implement engaging library programs for children and teens. The ideal candidate will have a passion for literacy, a strong background in program planning, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming library environment for young patrons and their families. This position requires at least five (5) years of library experience with progressive program planning and implementation responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and implement dynamic programs and activities for children and teens, including Storytime, reading and skill literacy programs, and educational workshops.
  • Assist young patrons and their caregivers with locating resources, recommending reading materials, and providing reference assistance.
  • Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and volunteers to enhance youth services and promote literacy initiatives.
  • Maintain and curate youth collections, ensuring materials are current, diverse, and engaging.
  • Market youth programs through social media, library websites, and community outreach.
  • Train and supervise library staff and volunteers assisting with youth programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making improvements based on feedback and participation data.
  • Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support youth programming.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive library space for children, teens, and their families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of library experience with progressive program planning and implementation responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, reading and skill literacy development, and library services for youth and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and the ability to engage and inspire young audiences.
  • Experience in event planning, program coordination, or education-related fields is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with library software, online databases, and digital literacy tools.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a public library setting.
  • Background in early literacy, STEAM programming, or youth education.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and community outreach initiatives.
