Position Summary
The Student Assistant for School of Osteopathic Medicine (Brooks Campus) is responsible for providing basic circulation assistance. The Student Assistant reports to the Director of Library Services. Current UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program.
Essential Functions
Use of the libraryβs software to provide circulation assistance to patrons Keep library space clean and organized Shelve/shift books; conduct shelf reading Aid in the de-accessioning of library materials Assist with opening and/or closing procedures for the library Refer individuals to appropriate library personnel when needed Assist patrons with basic computer software and hardware questions Maintain printers Troubleshoot minor equipment problems Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. and push/pull/move book trucks in excess of 100 lbs. Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat, and climb stairs to retrieve library materials Ability to regularly move about library and campus, as well as actively engage with patrons
Preferred Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate or professional program Knowledge of Library operations/services, audiovisual equipment, and computer software
