American Heritage Schools - Palm Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for High School Library Assistant  for the 2025-2026 school year. The position is a 10:00am-6:00pm shift and Teaching experience preferred. The position includes "Test Proctoring" for 3 hours each day.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Upper School Library Assistant includes overall student management of the media center floor for up to 70 students with additional responsibility and obligation to maintain the library space.  The individual also offers supportive services for students as it relates to educational technology, copy, printer, and computer instructions/services.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 


  • "Test Proctoring"The 10-6 job has 3 hours of test proctoring each day.

  • Maintain rosters for Independent Study classes as assigned

  • Coordinate with teachers, guidance, and trainer(s) when students need to be released for labs, college planning, or medical treatment

  • Manage incoming calls to the media center - assist or direct callers as needed

  • Answer or triage all incoming after-hours operator calls (Palm Beach)

  • Greet parents, students, and guests of the library

  • Assist students/teachers as needed with iPad support, technology, and navigational needs before school and between class periods with apps/sites 

  • Ensure responsibility for the student’s safety  

  • Guides students in the area of Wi-Fi connectivity/management and troubleshoots as needed to ensure students are afforded immediate connectivity to their resources

  • Discipline students appropriately, and as directed via online referrals or direct dean referrals

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Train and prepare for safety and security management at an expanded level (Tower 1 personnel manage emergency inbound calls as well as serve to initiate Code Red alarms)

  • Follow basic health and welfare guidelines - cleaning surface areas between each class, before and after school as needed.

  • Perform necessary inventory to ensure supplies are maintained and collect technology when returned

  • Monitor Lightning alarms and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the students when under lightning warnings

  • Read and maintain the media center calendar and prepare the spaces for various multifunctional uses

  • Design and edit banners, flyers, presentations, and signage for the space 

  • Assist students with finding media and/or books; complete the check-out process of books in the absence of the Librarian


QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Intermediate / Advanced Computer skills are required at a minimum

  • Certification or Expertise in the area of Google Suite (Forms, Documents, Sheets, G-calendar, etc.), preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain professionalism at all times

  • Experience with students in the classroom or in the area of coaching 

  • Ability to ensure a safe and functional space. 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to facilitate and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others 

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 

  • Ability to utilize educational technologies such as iPads, learning software, and basic word-processing software 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

 



WORKING ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Primarily Indoors (A/C): Limited Patio (outdoor) monitoring 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and/or stooping

  • The ability to lift up to 25 pounds
