Provide coverage at library service desks, answering directional questions and providing information to library patrons, handling circulation services processes, responding to phone calls, etc.
Provide technical assistance in the reference area, assisting patrons with use of software and equipment in the library.
Assist patrons with the operation of computers, scanners, audiovisual equipment, printers, copiers, and other equipment or devices in the library.
Learn fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment in the library (i.e. assistive technology equipment, etc.).
Provide general troubleshooting for library computers and ensure they are ready for use, i.e. stock paper and toner in printers, push in chairs, restart frozen computers, etc.
Perform basic circulation operations using established library guidelines and procedures.
Perform general stack maintenance.
Retrieve hourly library gate counts.
Understand, follow, and communicate library and college policies, guidelines and procedures to patrons using the library.
Act as a liaison between patrons and staff.
Attend customized library customer service training when scheduled.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESRetrieve packages and magazines from the mail room, as needed.
Scan documents, pictures, and other files into electronic medium for use on the library website, electronic reserves, interlibrary loan and other areas.
Assist in opening and closing the library using established procedures under the direction of library staff.
May be required to work in other departments of the library.
