Shannon Library is currently seeking student workers to staff its Information & Service Desks during the summer of 2025. The Information & Service Desks and its staff create the first impression library users have of the newly opened Shannon Library. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks related to services for library patrons at assigned service points and occasionally work on special projects. Punctuality, attention to detail, and dependability are the essential components of this position. Duties include providing customer service for library users; generally focused on charging, discharging, and renewing library materials. You must be comfortable with data entry, the use of standard office software programs and working within established guidelines and policies. You must possess a strong attention to detail, the ability to learn the Library of Congress call number system, the ability to work independently, and be proactive. This is a customer service / visitor service job.
The Shannon Library Information & Service Desk is staffed with student assistants from 9AM-8PM during the summer and 8AM-2AM during the semesters. To be considered, you must be available to work early opening or late closing shifts. Weekly work schedules are built around student class schedules and availability. Extra consideration will be given to students who are willing and able to work late night shifts and/or weekend shifts.
The pay rate for this position is $14.53/hour.
