Overview






We are seeking an enthusiastic Research and Instruction Librarian who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Specifically, this role focuses on liaising with the Modern Languages, Performing Arts, and Humanities departments and supports the development of digital learning content and tools. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive research and instructional support to faculty and students. Key responsibilities include integrating information literacy goals into course assignments, leading initiatives in digital learning content development and support services, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment both within the library and across the campus. 

 

This position offers some work-from-home opportunities with increased flexibility during academic calendar breaks.









Responsibilities






Liaison Responsibilities: 

  • Engage with and outreach to stakeholders to identify and meet information needs.
  • Design and implement strategic instructional methods to apply within a variety of teaching opportunities. 
  • Develop and manage collections to support research and instruction. 
  • Provide specialized research consultation and reference services. 
  • Stay informed of developments in scholarly communication and information science.

Specialized Functional Area: 

  • Develop, design and maintain instructional guides, tutorials, and multimedia resources that facilitate effective learning and research in collaboration with the Research and Instruction librarian team and other library staff. 
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of instructional materials and library instruction sessions. 
  • Identify and promote integration of new instructional design technologies and tools that enhance research capabilities in collaboration with the Research and Instruction librarian team, other library staff, and related staff on campus. 
  • Stay current with trends and developments in instructional design, online learning, and research tools through continuous professional development.

Qualifications






 

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or an international equivalent of an MLIS. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with instruction, information literacy, and assessment of library services and resources, including teaching and instruction experience in a library setting. 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an academic library or a similar environment.
  • Experience developing instructional tutorials and educational resources using tools such as LibWizard, H5P, WeVideo, Voice Thread, or similar. 
  • Commitment to user-centered library services. 
  • Strong understanding of the key issues and trends in instruction and engagement. 
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. 
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace and an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A college degree, credential, or strong experience in the academic areas this position supports.
  • Intermediate proficiency in a foreign language, in addition to English. This includes the ability to read and understand professional literature, and communicate effectively in writing and orally in that language. 
  • Practical knowledge of ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
  •  Experience providing reference services and research consultations. 
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle. 

Compensation: 

The annual salary for this 1.0 FTE position will be between $65,000-$67,500
