Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide high quality, proactive reference assistance; aid students with LoLA and Canvas.
• Provide circulation assistance.
• Design and teach information literacy classes based on student learning outcomes; record all instruction data and prepare annual statistics.
• Provide outreach to students and faculty; promote library services and resources.
• Create and oversee library webpage content such as subject guides, and record, edit, and distribute electronic tutorials using tools such as Camtasia and VidGrid.
• Develop library programming; organize events for National Library Week, etc.
• Serve as liaison to the Student Government Association.
• Serve on library, college, and LOUIS committees.
• Participate in professional development activities and stay current on reference and library instruction issues.
• Participate in the Library’s IE Plan.
• Communicate promptly and effectively with library staff.
• Lead or assist with special projects as needed, e.g. the SOWELA Digital Archives, SOWELA Student Book Club, etc.


Required Education: ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science or equivalent degree in library and information science.


Required Experience: One year of experience working in a library setting.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with information literacy standards.
Skilled in customer-service.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and administer projects.
Willingness to work one evening each week, as needed.
