Effectively assists with Circulation Services throughout the Fairfield Public Library system.  

  • As a member of the Circulation Team, provide friendly, enthusiastic customer service
  • Assists in operation of circulation services and carries out various clerical tasks including checking materials in/out, issuing library cards, collecting and resolving fines and fees, shelving material
  • Actively promotes available library services
  • Responds professionally to simultaneous demands in very busy library environment
  • Represents Fairfield Public Library in a positive and professional manner
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Ability to perform in a courteous and professional manner at all times with excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to stand at a circulation desk, push a cart full of books weighing up to 70 pounds, as well as bend and lift boxes of library materials weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Display an interest and knowledge of reader’s services
  • Must have a working knowledge of library principles and practices
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of readers’ services
  • Ability to use good judgement and discretion interacting with staff and the public

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.   Experience with Koha is a plus.

SCHEDULE

  • Hours fluctuate based on operational and seasonal needs; must have availability to work evenings and weekends as needed

PAY RANGE

  • $18.50 per hour

AFFILIATION

  • Non-Bargaining Unit, Part-Time position; 19.5 hours or less
