Part-Time Test Proctor and Library Assistant

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 1:00–5:00 p.m.; Friday, 1:00–3:15 p.m. 

Term: 10-Month, Part-Time 

 

 

The Part-Time Test Proctor and Library Assistant supports the secure administration of student assessments and afternoon library operations. This role manages test logistics and maintains test security and confidentiality. Additionally, this position is responsible for assisting students and faculty with research tools, library equipment, and materials while fostering a quiet and organized environment conducive to study. 

 

 

 

 

 

Test Proctoring: 

 

  • Administers and supervises a variety of student assessments. 

  • Collaborates with faculty to collect and return test materials and equipment. 

  • Maintains a quiet, secure, and distraction-free testing environment. 

  • Monitors students during testing to ensure compliance with academic integrity standards. 

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of student information and test content. 

  • Reports suspected testing irregularities to school administration. 

 

Library Support: 

 

  • Oversees the library circulation desk during assigned hours. 

  • Answers directional and informational questions, referring reference/research questions to the librarian. 

  • Maintains a quiet, respectful, and welcoming library environment for all patrons. 

  • Shelves and organizes books and materials to maintain an orderly collection. 

  • Helps troubleshoot and maintain laminator and printer/copier. 

  • Participates in department outreach and engagement activities as needed including organization, set up, and promotion as directed. 

  • Ensures seamless continuity of library services during all hours of operation by communicating with fellow library staff in a timely manner. 

  • Performs closing and end-of-day responsibilities, including securing the library space and equipment. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred. 

  • Experience working in a school or library environment preferred. 

  • Strong interest in working with teenagers in an academic setting. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfortable learning new software systems. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy setting.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

 

  • This position requires the ability to lift fifteen pounds. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend at the knees and utilize step stools to shift, shelve, and retrieve books and materials. Must be able to perform tasks such as cutting, labeling, taping, and working at a computer keyboard which involves a reasonable amount of wrist and hand movement.
