City of Madison Heights - Part Time Substitute Librarian
Hours vary based on operational needs, but shifts are often 4 pm - 8 pm on weekdays, and 9:30 am - 5 pm on Saturdays.
The City of Madison Heights Public Library is seeking enthusiastic and service-oriented Part-Time Substitute Librarians to support our library services. Substitute Librarians provide essential public service, assist with programming, and ensure accurate patron transactions.
DUTIES:
- Provides reference and readers' advisory services
- Assists patrons in the effective use of library resources including:
- makerspace equipment
- using public computers
- printing
- online resources, like Libby, MeL, MAP
- planning and providing storytimes
- leading book discussions
- Works on projects as assigned when not assisting patrons, including:
- pulling items for reports
- creating fliers or social media graphics
- collection development and linking items to catalog
- Assists with circulation duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- MLS Degree from ALA accredited school or currently enrolled in accredited MLS Degree program
- Evening and Saturday availability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Library experience
- Knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft Office and Google Drive
- Ability to perform clerical and circulation tasks
- Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision and adapt to changing conditions frequently
- Abiltiy to work and speak tactfully and courteously with the public and maintain good working relationships with fellow employees
- Familiarity with CARL.X and CARL.connect
- Familiarity with CivicPlus Recreation Management
