Part-Time Reference Librarian


Hourly Rate: $36.05 per Hour (2024-2025 Faculty Probationary Contract Rate) 


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Reports to Director of Libraries 


Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings 3pm to 8pm and every third (3rd) Saturday 10am to 3pm.


This position will close on Sunday, December 1, 2024.


 


 *This position requires the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances prior to the start date.


 


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


Provides research support and conducts information literacy instruction sessions and orientations to a diverse population of students and county residents at both the Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses.


 


DUTIES:



  • Provides reference services in person and via phone, chat, email, and online meeting platforms.   

  • Teaches information literacy classes and conducts orientations/workshops as scheduled

  • Works collaboratively with librarians and library staff on library instruction and outreach initiatives

  • Monitors the use of the library and study spaces

  • Troubleshoots basic computer functions

  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS  (Required):



  • Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program

  • At least one year of experience in providing reference and/or instructional services

  • Excellent communication and listening skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Familiarity with MS Office

  • Strong interest in working with students in an academic environment


Preferred:



  • Experience in an academic or research library environment
