The City of Wylie's award winning Library has an immediate part time opening for a Library Technician. The selected applicant will be servicing the library patrons in a front-line position that requires consistent positive interactions with the public. Will also check library materials in and out and assists with various circulation tasks.
Supervision is provided by the Circulation Services Supervisor when assigned to Circulation.
Maintains good attendance records.
Ability and willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the library.
Must perform all tasks within safety guidelines, using approved safety methods.
Attends staff meetings.
Loads and unloads book trucks.
Pushes/pulls loaded book truck(s) from one location to another.
Answers questions regarding function(s) of the Smith Public Library.
Maintains a neat and proper appearance
Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers, and others.
Other duties as may be assigned.
WHEN ASSIGNED TO CIRCULATION
Assists patrons at the public service desk, drive-thru, and by phone.
Processes, shelves, and sorts library materials.
Assists patrons with copy and fax machines.
WHEN ASSIGNED TO TECHNICAL SERVICES
Attention to detail.
Performs copy and original cataloging and classification.
Updates integrated library system in relation to cataloging functions.
Unloads and organizes shipments of library materials.
Assists with library materials reports.
Repairs materials as needed.
Supports other departments as needed.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred. Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH REQUIRED:
Moderate: Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
