Summary and Purpose:

Library staff position designed to oversee student assistants, provide level-two patron assistance, and

support essential functions such as building management and security, equipment management, and

general projects.

Responsibilities/Dues/Tasks/Essential Functions:

● Circulation Services: Staff circulation desk, check library items in and out

● Student Support: Provide direction and support to student assistants

● Security: Maintain safe library environment; maintain awareness of and communicate potential

student, collection, building threats to supervisor and/or campus safety when appropriate.

● Patron Assistance: Assist library users in navigating the library collections, services, and website;

answer technology and printing questions, and provide referrals to librarians or other appropriate

staff on campus.

● Cleaning and organizing: Maintain clean and organized library spaces and collections

● Communication: Communicate clearly and promptly with student assistants, patrons, and AQ staff

● Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, and Skill Requirements

● Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully

● Ability to work independently

● General knowledge of library and college operations

● Attention to detail

● Some schedule flexibility will be useful

● Ability to follow instructions

● Supervisory experience strongly preferred

● General technical proficiency, familiarity with Google and Office tools, troubleshooting

Work Environment & Physical Demands

● Ability to stand and sit for long periods of me, push a book cart, stoop, bend, walk, and lift up to 20

pounds
