Outreach Librarian Description 


South College is seeking an Outreach Librarian to join our Marietta Campus. This position is scheduled 40 hours per week as scheduled with Supervisor and may include evening and weekend work.


Outreach Services:

  • Develop outreach activities aimed at improving student success. 
  • Build library relationships with student support departments and academic programs to ensure the library is represented in relevant campus events, programs, and initiatives. 
  • Collaborative with academic programs to incorporate library instruction and support. 
  • Create instruction outlines for information literacy and library resource instruction, in collaboration with other librarians, to ensure comparable information used across the institution. 
  • Design appropriate online and print materials to assist with the promotion of library instruction, services or resources.
  • Build and maintain the library’s virtual orientation modules for all locations and programs. 
  • Plan and maintain library outreach communication in multiple formats for students and faculty.
  • Promote new user services and online initiatives to students and faculty. 

Instructional Services:

  • Conduct orientations and training sessions for library users to explain services, resources and policies.
  • Produce and maintain instructional guides and research guides to support the curriculum. Lead library Instruction Team to ensure consistent library instruction institution-wide. 

Reference and User Services:

  • Provide reference services at the service desk and through the virtual reference system. 
  • Assist library users in the use of print and electronic research tools.
  • Assist library users with research requests. 
  • Assist students with student copiers, printers, and computers.
  • Maintain familiarity with the library collection and resources.
  • Perform circulation duties and maintain accurate circulation statistics.

Collection Development:

  • Communicate with assigned academic department(s) for collection development. 
  • Participate in collection management decisions for assigned subject areas.
  • Recommend print and electronic materials for assigned subject areas using standard selection tools.
  • Participate in yearly inventory. 

Supervisory Duties:

  • Supervise and train clerks and work-study students in various library duties. 
  • Assign clerical duties to clerks and work study students as needed.
Requirements

Education

  •  Minimum Master's Degree in Library Science
