Job Description
Reporting to the Dean of University Libraries, serves as the head of the library’s instruction program and is responsible for developing and implementing outreach activities which promote library resources and services, and guides the development of supervised personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists other librarians to plan, coordinate, and administer User Services.
- Develops outreach activities to promote library resources and services. Promote new and existing library resources and services in person and through print, web, and other media.
- Manages library’s social media presence. Maintains knowledge of current issues and trends in the areas of social media, marketing, and outreach.
- Supports ongoing training of Library staff in effective user service and compliance with standards established for Library customer service. Promotes interaction between academic programs and Library services and resources.
- Assesses instructional programs, including collecting session attendance data and feedback regarding library instructor effectiveness, student, and faculty satisfaction, and incorporates assessment data to improve instruction and demonstrate student success.
- Oversees bibliographic instruction and information literacy program and directs the provisions of specialized and general reference and instruction services to students, faculty, and other patrons via online and print venues and resources.
- Serves as liaison to faculty to assist with library instruction and research needs. Interprets and clarifies class assignments and individual queries, compiles bibliographies, and directs users to appropriate library sources, in all formats.
- In cooperation with other librarians, creates, edits and updates library LibGuides.
- Assists in library planning, policy development, evaluation and organization of library materials, collection development, and makes purchase and budget recommendations for assigned collection areas.
- In collaboration with other library staff, processes ordering, updating, and delivery of interlibrary loan borrowing and lending requests. Prepares materials received from other libraries for patrons' use and notifies patrons of status or when materials arrive. Returns materials borrowed from other libraries according to their shipping instructions as well as regional and national interlibrary loan policies.
- Assists in developing and implementing long and short-term plans, goals, objectives, and strategic activities for the Library and the University.
- Works with staff and students to create physical displays and exhibits.
- Leads in library event planning. Serves on library and university committees as appointed.
- Cooperate as a team member of the library staff and A&M-Texarkana in performing any professional and nonprofessional duties essential to library operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library science or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of related experience in an academic library setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with developing, delivering, and assessing user instruction
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and research skills.
- Ability to use basic print and electronic reference tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff, and the public in a professional manner
- Experience using automated library systems
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with OCLC
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Knowledge of Springshare’s LibGuides, LibAnswers and other modules.
- Knowledge of basic metadata schemas, digital collection management software, security, and public safety issues.

Experience with using social networking tools
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Other Requirements
- Skill sets in computer and media literacy with knowledge of managing digital resources
- Knowledge about intellectual property and rights management to manage digital resources
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends
- Ability to exert moderate force and/or move medium weight boxes, books, heavy book trucks or similar items
- Ability to handle material which can contain dust or microscopic mold spores
