DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
The Library Pager is a part-time position, 20 hours/week, with duties predominately at Resources Center at the Autry located in Burbank, California. This position may also be required to work at the Autry’s Griffith Park campus on a case-by-case basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works with Reference team to retrieve and shelve collection items related to internal and external research requests
- Assists in fulfilling internal and external reproduction and digitization requests
- Assists with Collections Management responsibilities related to the tracking, preservation, barcoding, and processing of library and archive materials
- Assists with Conservation responsibilities by preparing library and archive materials for freezing, assisting with vacuuming and conservation checks on materials that cannot be frozen, and following the Autry’s Integrated Pest Management recommendations regarding housekeeping and other duties
- Helps monitor and enforce researcher policies in the reading room
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Performs specialized packing and shipping of a variety of materials for department.
- Will perform other duties related to the day-to-day operations of the Libraries and Archives as requested, possibly including basic archival processing, data entry, and unpacking and moving collections
- Assist with special projects and activities that are aligned with the priorities of the Autry

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
- 1 - 2 years of experience in a research or special collections library
- Candidates currently enrolled in a graduate program in archival studies, library science, museum studies, history, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with organizational office software, including Excel and databases
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel; experience with library catalogs.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, organize and prioritize work, and act with initiative, good judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Effective at meeting deadlines, adjusting priorities, and working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Passion for learning
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs., and push a loaded library cart weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional shifting of books and boxes, involving bending, stooping, and carrying.
- Repetitive movement associated with keyboarding and file organization.
- Assistants must commit to work between the hours of 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday. Some weekend hours may be requested on occasion and will be scheduled in advance.
