WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY SCHEDULE


SUMMARY: Performs manual and clerical duties in the library according to defined procedures; shelves and retrieves library materials; and performs related work as required.       

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·         Sorts and shelves books and other library materials using appropriate filing system.

·         Ensures library materials are correctly arranged on shelf by shelf reading for accuracy; straighten materials on shelves to make sure they are neat; re-shelving materials as needed.

·         Assists in preparation of displays.

·         Keeps library in good order.

·         Supports the relationship between the library staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with patrons and library staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and library information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

·         High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

·         Up to 1 year of relevant library experience is preferred.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

·         None.

 

Required Knowledge of:

·         Alphabetical and Dewey decimal numeric filing systems.

·         Principles and practices of working safely.

 

Required Skills in:

·         Accuracy and thoroughness with filing and arranging items in alphabetical and numerical order.

·         Follow oral and written instructions.

·         Read and write at a level appropriate to the assigned duties.

·         Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and possess strong active listening skills.

·         Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact with during the course of work.

 

Work Environment:

·         Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. 

·         Schedule may include evenings and weekends.
