As a key member of the Youth Services team, you’ll help spark a love of reading and learning in children through creative programming, outreach events, and exceptional customer service. This role is perfect for someone who is imaginative, collaborative, and dedicated to making a positive impact in the community.
Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging programs for children both in the library and at outreach locations.
Assist with special events and library-wide initiatives.
Create vibrant displays to promote books and library events.
Support collection development through material selection and maintenance.
Provide reference and readers’ advisory assistance to library users of all ages using both print and digital resources.
Assist patrons with electronic devices, internet access, and online tools.
Deliver friendly, inclusive, and responsive customer service to a diverse community.
Manage routine supply requests and prepare purchase orders.
Generate reports and contribute to ongoing library improvement efforts.
Operate a variety of library equipment including computers, self-check machines, copiers, and cash registers.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree or completion of two years of college, along with at least two years of customer service experience.
Experience planning and leading programs for children is highly preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
A positive, adaptable attitude and a strong commitment to serving the public.
Knowledge of children’s and teen literature is a plus.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus.
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is preferred.
Work Schedule: This position requires 80 hours bi-weekly, with varying hours and days, including evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays.
