POSITION SUMMARY
Provides excellent customer service by assisting library patrons with locating library resources, answering reference questions, referrals to community resources, and providing detailed technology assistance. Plans, develops, and delivers adult programs and classes. Serves as Person in Charge as scheduled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service, Program Development, and Community Engagement (70%)
- Uses high-level customer service skills to determine and respond to patron needs. Creates a positive inviting atmosphere for all patrons.
- Provides library information, technology assistance, referrals, reader’s advisory guidance, and library account assistance.
- Supports patron access to and awareness of digital resources.
- Helps monitor and troubleshoot technology provided for patrons, including public computers and Tech lab equipment.
- Assists with planning, promoting, implementing and evaluating adult programs and classes.
- Assists with maintaining outreach partnerships throughout the community and updating current information on community resources.
- Supports delivery of materials to patrons at outreach locations on a regular basis.
- May represent the library at school, community group, business or government meetings or events.
Operational Support (15%)
- Supports projects managed by the Adult Services Supervisor and the Adult Services Librarian.
- Participates in the responsibility for the general appearance and safety of the Library as a whole. Assists in opening and closing procedures.
- Addresses and resolves complaints from patrons or forwards to appropriate staff necessary.
- Keeps current on Library policies and procedures. Monitors adherence to policies and procedures and/or communicates policies to patrons as necessary.
- Stays current on new trends and technologies in library service. Stays aware of library services and programs as well as current activities of the department and City.
- Collect, tabulate, maintain data and prepare standardized reports.
- May work directly with volunteers.
Collection Maintenance (15%)
- Assists with evaluating and maintaining the existing collection through recommendations and weeding of materials in accordance with established guidelines.
- May participate in the Collection Development Team purchasing for collections as delegated by the Adult Services Supervisor.
- Develops and utilizes reader’s advisory tools to increase patron usage of collection
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in any field required.
Work Experience
- 2 years of customer service experience; library and/or bookstore experience preferred.
Certifications and/or Licensures
Required Driver’s License
An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a standard library environment, requiring standing for extended periods of time. Work may also be performed in a standard office environment, requiring sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.). This job requires visual and physical capabilities to work on computers and associated equipment for extended periods of time.
HOURLY PAY RATE
$22.31 - $33.47/Hourly Pay Rate
This is a part-time position.
