Under the general direction of the Library Operations Supervisor, the On-call Library Assistant is responsible for providing and performing a variety of clerical and customer/client service responsibilities associated with the delivery and operation of library services. Duties involve performing customer service responsibilities at the circulation desk; checking materials in/out of the library; registers and updates patron database files and information; assisting callers with questions or assisting customers within the library, referring customers to reference staff as appropriate. This is an on-call non-exempt position. There is neither a guarantee of continual hours or guarantee of future employment, nor County benefits, except as mandated by state and federal law or as specifically referenced in the Personnel Policy Manual.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
•Participates in and implements customer services responsibilities associated with the circulation desk.
•Registers library users and updates library user databases and files.
•Provides customer service duties to assist and direct patrons in the use of library services and materials.
•Assists in processing reserved/ requested materials for patrons and the library.
•Assists in maintaining the appearance and order of collection materials and library areas.
•Performs other duties of a comparable level or type.
•High school diploma or GED.
•A minimum of one year previous related library or customer service experience
•Computer experience preferred
