Reports to the Director of Library and Media Services.

The Library Assistant position functions as the first point of contact for library users; acknowledges individuals as they enter the library and quickly greets and assists users who walk up to the desk. Requires excellent customer service skills and good problem-solving abilities.

Performs general library functions which include:

• Circulation functions, such as checking materials in and out, filling patron requests, and uploading student records to create new accounts.
• Monitor reserves and holds on materials through the circulation system.
• Resolve patron account issues, including account holds.
• Generate circulation reports, overdue notices, and recalls.
• Monitor and help users with room reservations. 
• Answer questions and provide basic assistance for various campus technologies, including aiding users with printing, copying, scanning.

• Assists students with room reservations using LibCal.
• Serve as backup for processing incoming and outgoing interlibrary loans requests.
• Provide basic search assistance for library resources.
• Assist in assembling and arranging displays.

• Maintains a clean environment, stocking office supplies, and working with facilities when needed. 

• Assists with tracking usage for statistics.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

This position has a schedule that is fairly flexible with varying day, evening, and some weekend hours. Typically works 6-10 hours per week depending on the academic calendar and availability.

Wage is $15 per hour.
