Job Summary
OLP seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative individual to serve in an academic year internship position as Library Assistant for the duration of this 2025-2026 academic year. The Library Assistant Intern is considered an integral part of the library team, working directly with the Head Librarian. Candidates for this position should have a sincere passion for working with students with a growth mindset and commitment to continual learning. In addition to supporting students and faculty with their teaching/learning needs, we are looking for an individual that will foster a love of reading across campus. Experience working in a library is a plus but not required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

? Curate and manage themed library displays
? Develop library marketing materials such as flyers and digital newsletters to promote library events, services and resources.
? Work alongside the Head Librarian to support curricular needs across all disciplines
? Assist patrons in navigating the library's digital and print resources
? Help plan, promote, and facilitate library events such as film screenings, guest speaker visits, reading groups, and more.
? Assist Head Librarian in collection development activities, including procuring and cataloging new materials, conducting inventories of the collection, and weeding the existing collection.
? Shelve print materials
? Create interactive digital content for the library’s social media account, including virtual book tours, book recommendations, video tutorials, or digital resource highlights.
? Prepare overdue reports as well distribute overdue notices on a weekly basis.
? Assist with the maintenance of the library’s online resource hub.
? Troubleshoot issues with printer and PC/Mac devices that may arise
? Monitor student behavior and enforce policies for the use of the library
? Able to work with frequent interruptions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
? Support and manage the Spirit Store alongside the Marketing Team
? Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree; MLS/MLIS candidates encouraged to apply
? Strong communication and organizational skills
? Some experience working with 14-18 year olds.
? Comfortable and skilled at working with computers
? Previous library experience preferred
Classification:
The position of Library Assistant Intern is a part-time up to 20 hours/week classified, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of pay between $18.00 - $22.00 depending upon experience and degrees. This is a school year based internship position operating within the August to May timeframe. Library Assistant Intern reports to the Head Librarian and Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction.
