General Summary
Perform paraprofessional work in library technical and public services operations, including but not limited to circulation, serials and documents management, cataloging, acquisitions, inter-library loans, digitization and information referral. Duties include acquiring, organizing, preserving, accessing and maintaining of library material, keeping records of library operations, and public service assignments such as assisting users of the library's collections and services.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain collections of various reading, viewing, and listening materials in physical or electronic formats including, but not limited to books, government documents, archives, periodicals, audio-visuals, maps, microforms, music, and other related media.
- Provide customer service to all library patrons which include, communicating library policies and procedures, providing instruction, answering questions and referring customers to the appropriate library or campus expert as needed.
- Create, update and correct records in the acquisitions, cataloging, or circulation modules of the library's information systems.
- Receive process, modify and create physical and electronic records to manage collections and facilitate circulation and access to materials.
- Prepare and maintain records and statistics on operations and collection holdings.
- Search local and national databases for citation information and bibliographic records.
- Operate the library's automated storage and retrieval system.
- Perform outreach and clerical duties using personal computers to create word documents and spreadsheets.
- Interview and train student assistants.
- Perform related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic, typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, is necessary.Β
Three years of general clerical experience or one year of applicable library experience is required.
Basic personal computing skills to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database management applications and familiarity with the internet are required.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new procedures, workflow and computer applications is necessary.
Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks is necessary.
The ability to communicate accurately and pleasantly with customers from a wide diversity of cultural backgrounds is necessary in order to identify customer needs, provide customer referrals and solve customer problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
An Associate's degree is desirable.Β
Other qualifications, such as telephone or receptionist skills, or the ability to lift and carry moderate loads may be required for particular positions and will be noted at the time of posting.
