Knowledge of:
Familiarity with the fundamental purposes, typical collections and routine procedures of modern public libraries.
Ability to:
Learn standard library principles, policies and procedures, techniques and services; learn classification systems; learn to perform technical library tasks within area of assignment; interact effectively with library patrons, employees and the general public; learn to use a variety of computer hardware and software to perform essential library duties; utilize correct verbal and written English skills; make minor decisions in accordance with established policies; work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Essential Duties require the following physical skills and work requirements:
Requires the ability to maintain mental capacity of exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances; the ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to light work involving standing and moving from one area of the office to another; the ability to see; ability to hear and communicate orally; sufficient hand/eye coordination to perform semi-skilled repetitive movements such as shelving, typing, filing, data entry, and/or use of calculators, ten-key adding machine, or other office equipment or supplies; may involve extensive VDT exposure. Requires the ability to climb ladders or step stools, push or pull book carts, move boxes of materials of considerable weight from one location to another.
Disaster Service Workers:
All Sutter County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to perform certain emergency services at the direction of the department and/or County.
License or Certificate:
This classification may require a valid California driver’s license.
