Join our team as a Library Assistant on the bookmobile! This role involves working directly on and driving the bookmobile, performing tasks such as checking materials in and out, managing fines, processing reserves, and assisting customers with their questions. Additional responsibilities include shelving and organizing materials, shelf-reading, and processing new items.
The Library Assistant also helps patrons with computers, devices, eBooks, and catalog navigation, as well as provides book recommendations based on knowledge of current authors, bestsellers, and classics. This role teaches patrons to use the Library’s online resources and locates materials and information in person, by phone, and online.
The bookmobile is primarily stationed at the Southwest Brunswick Branch, with occasional assignments at other locations. The regular schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with required availability for evening and weekend shifts. Additionally, supporting other county departments during emergencies may also be required.
Associate's degree with previous library experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Familiarity with current authors, bestselling titles, and classics preferred.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of library systems and office equipment. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to twenty pounds, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
