Library Assistant is responsible for providing assistance and informational services to the staff, providers, patients, and other library patrons. Performs various clerical and technical duties.
Additionally, this role provides on‑site coverage, assists with essential library workflows, and helps maintain smooth, efficient service delivery.
Department: Library
Hours: Part-Time, 20 hours a week required
Shift: Monday - Friday *hours may vary depending on departmental needs with typical afternoon coverage.
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred experience: Prior work in library, academic or healthcare setting, Customer Service and strong attention to detail.
Pay: based on experience, starting at $16.14 an hour.
Responsibilities
Borrows journals, articles, and books on interlibrary loan using electronic systems. Searches online databases to locate items and to identify lending libraries., Catalogs and processes new books. Maintains online collections in national and local databases., Circulates books, journals and AV materials. Shelves returned materials. Sends out overdue notices, and maintains circulation records., Covers the library in the librarian’s absence., Fills interlibrary loan requests. Checks electronic interlibrary loan systems daily, locates articles, photocopies per copyright laws, and sends to appropriate customer., Maintains photocopy machine and FAX machine. Assists patrons with copy machine, FAX machine and computers. Notifies individuals/departments of incoming Faxes., Orient patrons to these databases, print materials and other library resources. Answers reference questions and conducts basic information searches on appropriate health-care databases as needed., Orient patrons to these databases, print materials and other library resources.
