New Hanover County Public Library is looking for a part-time Customer Service staff member to engage with the public and provide a welcoming library experience. This position will primarily work in the Local History Room at the Main Library, but will also regularly work in other library departments including Children’s and Circulation. As the primary point of contact for library services, this position requires extensive interaction with patrons, both in-person and by telephone. In addition, this position answers basic questions and refers patrons to other resources as needed. Good interpersonal skills, friendliness, and a positive attitude are essential for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED and knowledge, skills, education, training, and experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the functions of the role and successfully perform the essential duties, with at least one year of experience in a library, bookstore or other frontline customer service role. (e.g. retail, food service, or hospitality)
