Working Conditions: Library Assistants generally work in a library/office setting. They regularly and frequently interact with the public. Work routinely requires extended shifts at public service desks, where they answer questions and assist patrons with library accounts and materials. Work includes moving book crates and carts up to 40 pounds and positioning self at various heights to process materials. Work periodically includes stressful, emotionally heightened situations including emergencies, behavioral problems, intoxication, and health events.
