St. Jude Regional Catholic School in Rockville Maryland is hiring a part -time Librarian.
This role is 19 hours per week and will report to the Principal.

The school day is centered around academics and prayer, and the warm and tight-knit faculty and staff ensure that it is a safe place for students to come together to learn, pray, and thrive.
SJRCS is seeking a part-time Librarian for the 2025-2026 school year to organize and run our Library department. The Librarian reports to the principal and assistant principal while being an integral part of the lower and upper school faculty team serving in an advisory capacity to the administration for the school’s policies, philosophy, organization, and curriculum.
Responsibilities:
● Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of SJRCS.
● Plan for instruction for the Library in grades PreK-4th grade.
● Collaborate with the lower school teachers and resource teacher to establish a consistent foundation for learning.
● Provide opportunities for students to check-out library books during Library instructional time and during “flexible library periods” for upper school.
● Read seasonal books, religious books, picture books, and chapter books to students in grades Pre-K-4th grade.
● Organize and shelve returned books. Order new editions of books and replacement books. Maintain book repairs.
● Practice positive, consistent discipline in the classroom.
● Plan and collaborate with middle school teachers to provide research materials for projects.
● Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, social, and safety concerns.
● Attend weekly faculty and team meetings. The teacher will attend school functions outside of the school day as required by the Faculty Handbook.

Skills required:
● Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
● Knowledge of Library studies, instructional methods and strategies.
● Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior specific to elementary and middles school grade levels. The teacher will have the ability to manage student behavior in the classroom setting.
● The teacher will have the ability to respond to individual learning needs.
● Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning across the curriculum.
● Ability to conference with parents upon request and respond to voice mail messages and email in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree
Experience: None required, however, experience with children in a classroom setting is preferred.
