    Job Title: 
    Libarian/Media Specialist - Anticiapted Vacancy

    Reports to:
    Building Principal and/or other appropriately certified superior as designated by the Superintendent.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Students, and when assigned, student teachers, and classroom aides.

    Term of Employment: 
    10 months

    Salary: 
    Salary determined by the GEHR Board of Education and commensurate with experience and according to the agreed upon and valid GEHREA contract.

    Job Goal: 
    The teacher is responsible for instructional planning, implementation and development of the curriculum while fostering an inclusive learning environment to promote student engagement and success. The teacher supervises students, implements New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and adapts curriculum to individual needs. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with colleagues and parents. Upholding school rules and participating in professional development activities are essential, as is maintaining an environment that ensures the health and safety of all students.

    Qualifications:
    Education: 
    • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments
     
    License/Certification:
    • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility with the appropriate teaching endorsement
    • 2855 - School Library Media Specialist Educational Services Certificate or 2845 - Associate School Library Media Specialist Educational Services Certificate
    • Successful completion of required criminal history review background check and sexual misconduct/child abuse disclosure process
    • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
      
    Experience/Background:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
    • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
    • Critical evaluation / thinking skills 
    • Demonstrable ethical decision making 
    • Effective professional and interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. 
    • Demonstrable organization and prioritization skills
    • Experience with Google (Docs, Sheets & Drive, Classroom)
    Responsibilities:
    1. Instruction and Curriculum Development:
      • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
      • Plan and deliver effective lessons using diverse teaching methods.
      • Provide individualized support to meet diverse student needs.
      • Set clear objectives, assess understanding, and monitor academic progress.
     
    1. Communication and Collaboration:
      • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents.
      • Collaborate with colleagues to assess and address learning challenges.
      • Actively participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings, committees, and other activities.
     
    1. Classroom Management and Environment:
      • Establish and maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment.
      • Create age-appropriate activities and presentations, catering to varying ability levels.
      • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
     
    1. Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:
      • Engage in continuous professional development activities.
      • Stay abreast of current developments, new trends, and teaching methodologies.
      • Contribute to curriculum development and participate in in-service education.
     
    1. Student Assessment and Progress Reporting:
     
    • Devise thought-provoking assignments and tests encouraging critical thinking.
    • Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports as required.
    • Implement a program of study recognizing and meeting individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
