Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of clerical tasks, including ordering materials, special projects and reports and record keeping; Process and inventory the current collection and new acquisitions; Utilize and update the computerized library software system; Assist Media Center patrons in a variety of ways involving material searches, computer system and non-print materials; Supervise the Media Center and students; Assist the media specialist and other staff in preparation for instruction and library programming; Assist with training and supervision of volunteers and student assistants; Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Minimum Training and Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Licenses or Certification: None required
Skill Requirements and General Expectations: Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
Some knowledge of library functions, child development and a working knowledge of basic computer skills is needed.
Flexibility, positive attitude and the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers will be greatly appreciated. Patience and love for children a necessity.
Essential Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds; Occasional lifting twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds; Ability to stand/walk for ninety (90) minutes; Frequent bending, squatting, standing, reaching, sitting, kneeling, stooping
Salary:
Schedule: 3 – 5 days weekly, 8 hours daily
Pay: Negotiable depending on experience, minimum $16.75/hour.

Our school is on a Traditional Calendar. Multi-grade / multi-age classroom setting. Classrooms are divided into Lower Elementary (1st through 3rd grades) or Upper Elementary (4th through 6th grades).

Maintain and repair library materials
Manage materials using our library management software (Destiny)
Follow the DCSD media policy and board policies pertaining to the library
Assist students and staff when using print and/or DCSD digital resources
Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, maintain a clean and organized library environment, and other necessary tasks
Perform necessary record-keeping for all library resources, including a full inventory of all resources no less than every two years
Manage training, scheduling, and supervising of student assistants/aides and community volunteers in the LMC
Perform other library related duties as assigned or requested
Duties include instruction, supervision, management, and programming in the Library Media Center
Attend District trainings pertaining to the library: Destiny, databases and digital resources, collection development, weeding, purchasing, etc.
Assist classroom teachers in maintaining supportive learning environments in the LMC in accordance with information literacy/research standards and DCSD’s priority learning outcomes
Support DCSD curriculum and reading advocacy; supervise students in the library in conjunction with a licensed teacher
Help plan and participate in special library events (district-wide events and school specific events)
Schedule and support activities for the library program which may include author days, reading promotions and incentives, and school-wide literacy activities
Loan library materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources to students, staff, and other DCSD school patrons
Process returned materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources
Organize and reshelve returned items
Manage loans between DCSD school libraries (ILL loans)
