The Librarian/LEC Administrator will support the Learning Enrichment Center’s mission of supporting students so that they are set up for success within their classrooms and ultimately in their future collegiate and professional environments. Candidates should possess superb organizational skills, strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and feel passionately about assisting students in their utilization of the available resources and academic support.

St. Thomas High School, an all-boys private, Catholic college-preparatory school for grades 9-12 in Houston, Texas actively seeking to fill the position of Librarian/Archivist/LEC Administrator for the 2025-2026 school year.  Librarian/Archivist/LEC Administrator Responsibilities

  • Envision, implement, and manage a cumulative library program.
  • Be a leader in information literacy and digital citizenship.
  • Provide professional development to staff members as it relates to the library program, information literacy, and digital citizenship.
  • Assist Students with content specific work relating to the research process.
  • Communicate library expectations, closures, and schedule changes with LEC, EBN, Assistant Principal, and after-school monitors.
  • Provide reference services and instruct students and faculty in the use of the subscription databases, the online catalog, and the internet for research projects.
  • Perform technical services as administrator for subscription databases, discovery service, and library management system.
  • Assist students and faculty with checking out and returning books.
  • Monitor and update student and faculty use of apps to access resources and books.
  • Manage and update archive collection and records.
  • Collaborate with the advancement department to provide archival displays for special events.
  • Monitor and coordinate student presence during study halls, before school beginning at 7:30 AM, after school until 3:30, and during lunch:
    • Create study hall passes
    • Coordinate study hall and study room sign-ups
    • Consistently monitor the LEC to enforce school expectations.
  • Assist students with acquiring supplies.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education 

Required: Master’s degree in Library Science or Informational Studies

Experience 

Preferred: 5 years in a similar position

Working Conditions 

Work is executed in an office space with pleasant working conditions. The work hours are 7:30 to 3:30. 

Physical Requirements 

May be required to exert physical effort of a limited nature as needed for events.
