The Law Librarian will provide comprehensive legal research, reference services, and resource management to support our client. This role involves managing both physical and digital legal collections, responding to specialized inquiries, maintaining electronic resources, and collaborating with departments to ensure our client’s library resources remain current and accessible.
Responsibilities:
Respond to a full range of inquiries on historical materials and specialized legal topics, providing accurate reference support.
Offer comprehensive legal and legislative reference services, utilizing knowledge of published, unpublished, and electronic resources, including Westlaw.
Address reference questions, locate and analyze appropriate sources, and evaluate the authoritativeness and relevance of materials related to our client’s work.
Manage electronic subscriptions, vendor relations, and password allocations.
Coordinate resource sharing with other libraries to expand available materials.
Create, maintain, and update the Librarian’s Manual, including naming protocols for digital files, and duties related to the library's physical and digital resources.
Develop technical standards and protocols for library operations and document these for future use.
Maintain the library's physical collection, including acquisitions, shelving, weeding, and inventory coordination, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines.
Perform catalog maintenance, including record verification and catalog accuracy checks.
Manage library orders, purchasing, and budget tracking in collaboration with the Office of the Executive Director.
Attend library committee meetings to advise, report, and respond to library-related inquiries, as well as to make informed recommendations.
Assist in long-range planning for both physical and digital library spaces.
Audit physical resources and collaborate on space needs assessments.
Distribute research materials to employees, as necessary.
Assist in developing SharePoint sites for other departments.
Maintain and verify preserved materials' quality and adherence to standards.
