Loyola Academy seeks to fill the position of Instructional Librarian for our 2025-2026 Academic Year. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a library (preferably at a school).
Experience with providing library instruction and reference services is preferred
Experience working with high school students is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in using library management systems, Google Suite, databases, and other digital resources
Familiarity with basic collection development practices/processes
Organization and high attention to detail is essential
Strong and effective communication skills are essential
Master’s Degree in Library Sciences or equivalent certificate/license preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with faculty to teach information literacy and research skills to students, and to integrate library resources into the classroom
Work to promote the Library’s instructional goals within the context of the school's curriculum
Manage all aspects of collection development, including the selection of print books, ebooks, audiobooks, periodicals, subscription databases, and any other recommended library products.
Maintain the collection through active weeding and purchasing.
Work to evaluate, acquire, and make information accessible in a variety of formats to better serve the learning needs of the student.
Offer one-to-one student support during the research process, answer general reference questions, and help students access and use the Library’s print and electronic resources.
Promote and maintain a productive learning environment in the Library by helping supervise students.
Help plan, organize, and execute special projects, displays, and programs that promote student and staff engagement with the Library.
Assist in the documentation and implementation of all Library policies and procedures.
