Description

The following outlines the major responsibilities assumed by the Electronic Imaging Support Technician:

 

I. Knowledgeable and accurately applies all functions of SYNPASAE:

  1. Adds Notes to include all pertinent patient information into power jacket
  2. Monitors Awaiting Prior Study List for old films requested for comparison
  3. Sends old images to PACS needed comparison or to generate hard copies
  4. Monitors the Unread List for non-dictated studies
  5. Demonstrates ability to maneuver images using window level functions 
  6. Reviews Study Event Function for viewed, dictated and non-dictated studies by Radiologists
  7. Prints hard copy films from system as needed for Physicians, Patients, etc.

 

II.  Knowledgeable and applies all functions of MEDITECH System:

  1. Demonstrates ability to use all aspects of Process History to view patients’ history
  2. Prints reports from Process History screen; via demand faxing and manually
  3. Able to locate films/folders via Film Tracking function
  4. Able to create and print labels
  5. Applies and utilizes all aspect of EMR (Electronic Medical Record)
  6. Generates Film Pull List and Schedules for all modalities including OR

 

III.  Knowledgeable and applies all functions of the PACS Cube:

  1. Able to burn CDs in both eFilm and Dicom mode.
  2. Burns CDs in the anonymize feature
  3. Views created CDs on computer to confirm all images were transferred  
  4. Ability to transfer images from outside CDs via the PACS Cube to Synapse for viewing and/or Creating CDs.

IV:   Assistant to PACS Administrator

  1. Scanning of old films for comparison into Synapse using Vidar film scanner
  2. Importing outside films from disk via PACS Cube into Synapse for comparison
  3. Basic SWAT function (Study Status)
  4. Correction up Images (merging, moving)
  5. Daily anomaly maintenances
  6. Daily maintenances of database (removing test, phantom, etc images)

 

V:   Knowledgeable and applies all functions for all Computer Systems: 

  1. MEDITECH
  2. STAR NAVIGATOR
  3. NET TERM (Clinical)

 

VI.    Mammograms:

  1. Retrieves all prior studies for comparison to include Mammograms, Ultrasounds and MRIs.
  2. Reprints prior studies from mammogram machine
  3. Hangs and removes mammogram films from film alternator

 

VII.   Special Projects

  1. Reviews and faxes “Failed Reports” from Meditech system
  2. Handles correspondence, copying and documentation for legal, attorney and court cases
  3. Tracks final consultation reports, faxes and documents special circumstances for Physicians upon request 
  4. Processes Immigration Applications 

 

VIII.    Equipment: Applies, demonstrates and utilizes all functions

  1. Powerscribe (listening mode)
  2. Copier Machine
  3. Dry Pix Printer
  4. Fax Machine
  5. Computers
  6. Film Processor for copying film
  7. Film Alternator
  8. PACS Cube
  9. Digitizer

 

  1. Clinical Incompletes:
    1. Prints and reviews the “incomplete list” for all modalities/all Sites
    2. Researches all system verifying dictation
    3. SWATS studies no read
    4. Sends non-dictated studies back to Synapse for dictation

 

SECONDARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

I.:   Performs a variety of general job duties requiring accuracy and attention to details:

  • Coordinates imaging preparation in conjunction with patients, Physicians, Physicians’ offices, legal offices, and insurance offices, etc.
  • Manages customer service issues and resolves related problems.
    Communicates and interprets Department and Hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot as first line of support assuring equipment is in working condition.
  • Acts as Liaison for incoming telephone calls for reports, film release, CDs and Radiologists.
  • Opens sorts and reviews incoming mail and determines destination
  • Copies and distributes preliminary reports from Nighthawk
  • Works in conjunction with Facilitator and Radiologists for “STAT” dictations
  • Assists Physicians, Residents and co-worker in using PACS System
  • Files using alphabetical and numerical system
  • Prints and post daily “in-house” census sheet
  • Prepares PET SCAN folders and reports
  • Retrieves x-rays from Basement for comparison not available on Synapse
  • Print Bone Density reports 

 

II:  Attends staff meetings, in-services, and on-going education training classes as required

 

III: Performs other related duties assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service

       to achieve the Departmental goals and objectives



Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Prior related experience preferred 

Requires basic computer skills

Excellent verbal communication skills

Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments 

Ability to work independently & as a team player

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required

Completion of Advance PACS Certification

Completion of Technical Incompletes/SWAT Certification

Completion of IS Certification for Failed Reports/Monitoring Physician Data Base
