Position: Tenure Track Full-Time Faculty Position
Title: Collection Management Librarian
Department: Learning Resources/Library
This full-time (37.5 hours per week), tenure-track Collection Management Librarian position takes primary responsibility for the evaluation, selection, weeding, and management of the library’s collections; plans collection development of physical and electronic resources; maintains relationships with booksellers, subscription agents, and publishers; collaborates with liaison area librarians regarding acquisitions; maintains library materials budgets in collaboration with the Director, Libraries; coordinates with technical services in the ordering, processing, cataloging, and tracking of library materials and interlibrary loans; remains aware of current trends in acquisitions, collections, and resource management; serves as liaison to the Health Sciences department; provides specialized reference assistance to nursing students conducting medical research; coordinates planning, selecting, and maintaining of library resources and records for the academic accreditation of several college programs, including nursing and paralegal studies. In addition, this position advises and appropriately assists all members of the college and community in the location of information and resources, demonstrates the use of catalogs, indexes and reference sources and instructs in the methodology of research techniques, and provides instructional assistance through information literacy sessions including collaborating with faculty to promote information literacy across the campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Two years of professional higher education library experience.
Experience in providing reference and information literacy services.
Demonstrated proficiency in cataloging.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years' professional higher education library experience in collection management, preferably in a community college setting.
Experience in program accreditation processes.
Additional degree or 2 years reference service experience in Health Sciences.
